Build Nigeria 2026 · Embedded / IoT
Smart home AI assistant (Samuel)
Controls household lights and fans using programmed offline voice commands
Built by Blue Bot, Nigeria Army College of Environmental science (NACEST)
The problem
People often have to get out of bed or interrupt what they are doing to switch their lights and fans on or off. This can be inconvenient, especially at night, while studying, working on a laptop, or when their hands are occupied. Samuel AI aims to make controlling these appliances easier by allowing users to operate them with programmed voice commands without needing an internet connection
Who it is for
People who want a more convenient way to control household lights and fans, especially those who are resting, studying, working, or have their hands occupied
Latest from the team
The existing Samuel AI prototype can use programmed offline voice commands to control a light and fan. I am preparing to improve the system by testing each module individually, improving reliability, checking the OLED feedback, and carrying out complete system tests. I will record the test results and document the improvements made during the programme
