FuelPulse

Shows your generator's fuel level on your phone and in your house, and warns you before it runs out or if fuel goes miss

Built by PROTO, Federal University Of Technology Owerri

The problem

Millions of homes, shops and small farms depend on a petrol generator whenever the power goes out. But nobody can see how much fuel is left without walking out to the generator and opening the tank, so it often runs dry at the worst moment: in the middle of the night, during business hours, or when a poultry pen needs heat to keep the birds alive. People also have no record of how much fuel their generator really uses, so when fuel disappears faster than it should, they can't tell or prove it. They just keep buying more.

Who it is for

Homes, small shops and small farms that run a medium-sized petrol generator.

Latest from the team

We've finalised the design: a small unit on the generator reads the fuel level and sends it wirelessly to a display in the house, which also sends alerts to your phone. This week we're choosing the fuel sensor to build the first unit on the bench.
