The problem
Small-scale poultry farmers can’t see the two things that kill or weaken their birds: heat and ammonia. Most don’t use thermometers. They judge heat by how hot the day feels, and they only notice ammonia once the smell is strong. By then the birds are already stressed, so broilers grow more slowly, layers drop eggs, and some birds die. It’s worse when nobody is at the pen.
